Since 1973, Green Guerillas has supported community gardens across New York City as places where people grow food, build relationships, and create positive change. What started as a grassroots effort to reclaim vacant lots has grown into a citywide movement rooted in environmental justice, community leadership, and access to green space.
Our programs are designed to meet gardeners and communities where they are — from youth leadership and training, to garden support, to citywide organizing and advocacy. Together, they help neighborhoods thrive, strengthen local voices, and ensure that community-run green spaces continue to grow for generations to come.

Youth Empowerment & Development
Youth interns engage in workshops, skill building, team building and social emotional life skills throughout their internship.
Harvest for Neighborhoods
Distributions of supplies to food-growing community gardens in Harlem, central Brooklyn and the South Bronx.
Council of Gardeners
A cross-borough coalition of community gardeners working together to drive collective action, strengthen networks, and advocate for community gardens as essential to neighborhood food production.
Seed & Tool Lending Libraries
Providing NYC community gardens with tools and seeds they need. Our libraries are open to community gardeners who are members of a New York City community garden.
