Seed Library

Growing Community, Garden by Garden

Welcome to our Seed Library. This initiative assists community gardeners in NYC with accessing culturally relevant seeds, seeds that promote biodiversity, and seeds that are heirlooms or otherwise difficult to source.

We want to make it easier for community gardeners to grow produce that they and their community members need, to create vital pollinator habitat, and to share seeds their garden groups are saving.

The Seed Library operates from March through October each year.

How It Works

Review the FAQs

  • Confirm eligibility and seasonal availability.

Coordinate with Your Garden Group

  • Plan what your garden will grow and what your community needs.

Request Seeds During the Season

  • The program runs March through October.

Grow, Share, and Save

  • Support your garden community and help cultivate biodiversity across NYC.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Your garden group is welcome to receive up to 50 seed packets in the spring and up to 50 seed packets in the fall.

If your garden has a project that could benefit from additional hands or other forms of support, we invite you to share more details with us.

During the growing season, Green Guerillas partners with several volunteer groups and more than 35 youth interns. When possible, we work to connect gardens with volunteers or youth intern teams to provide hands-on assistance during the 2026 growing season.

Please note that while our capacity continues to grow, we are only able to commit to a limited number of projects each season. We appreciate your understanding and encourage you to share your needs so we can plan our support as thoughtfully as possible.

  • Each community garden can submit 2 requests for the year. Please coordinate among your members to make selections. We want to share with as many community gardens as possible.

  • We will be reviewing your requests on a weekly basis.

  • When you checkout your cart, you can select how you want to get your seeds. We can mail them to you. Or you can pick them up from our office in Brooklyn or at an upcoming event.

  • This is an NYC-based program. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate community gardens or gardeners outside of the city.

  • We are accepting donations! If you currently have seeds that you would like to donate to our Seed Library, email info@greenguerillas.org to learn how to make a seed donation.
