Jess is Green Guerillas’ Civic Engagement Coordinator and a member of the Council of Gardeners Steering Committee. She is a community composter, organizer, and environmental communicator based in Brooklyn, and an active member of Maple Street Community Garden, where she serves as the Compost and Communications Co-Coordinator. In that role, she helps lead composting, community programming, events, and communications.

Jess became involved in environmental and community organizing through her work with neighborhood organizations in Brooklyn. She created Trashy Hour, a community cleanup program, and previously served on the board of Community Cleanup PLG. She is a Master Composter and has completed Trash Academy, and enjoys finding ways to connect environmental education with hands-on community action.

At Green Guerillas, Jess supports the Council of Gardeners’ organizing, advocacy, education, and coalition engagement. She works with community gardeners to build their capacity to advocate for their gardens and communities, connect with City Council and other policymakers, and use their collective voice to shape decisions affecting community gardens. She is especially interested in the role community gardens play in bringing people together, strengthening neighborhoods, and creating opportunities for people to take action in their own communities.
