As New York City prepares for its next mayoral election, the New York City Community Garden Coalition (NYCCGC) and Loisaida United Neighborhood Gardens (LUNGS) invite you to join us for a critical conversation on the future of community gardens and green space in our city.
This Community Gardensโ Mayoral Forum, moderated by Karen Washington, internationally acclaimed food justice advocate, will:
Highlight the vital role of community gardens in NYCโs sustainability, food security, and climate resilience.
Feature a Q&A with mayoral candidates about their environmental and land-use policies.
Address and challenge the harmful narrative that community gardens obstruct affordable housing.
Explore real solutions for balancing urban growth and green space preservation.
Community gardens are not obstaclesโthey are opportunities. This is our chance to hear directly from those who seek to lead our city and to ensure they understand the value of protecting and expanding our urban green spaces.
