Green Guerillas Appoints Iyeshima Harris-Ouedraogo as Executive Director
A Proud New Chapter for Green Guerillas
Green Guerillas is proud to announce the appointment of Iyeshima Harris-Ouedraogo as Executive Director, effective February 1, 2026.
A dedicated leader in food and environmental justice, Iyeshima brings significant experience, deep institutional knowledge, and strong relationships across our community to the role.
Most recently serving as Interim Executive Director, her journey with Green Guerillas began as a Summer Youth Tiller, and her commitment to cultivating greener, more equitable neighborhoods has continued to flourish ever since.
With a clear, values-driven vision, she is well positioned to guide the organization into its next chapter and advance our mission of supporting community gardens and strengthening neighborhoods across New York City.
In addition to her substantial relevant experience, Iyeshima also holds a Master’s in Public Administration from The City College of New York.
“Iyeshima is a superb leader who has championed the ethos of Green Guerillas not only through times of transition, but has served as a steady thought partner, trusted advocate, and program lead throughout her 5-year tenure. She has an immense dedication to this work, and I couldn’t be more excited for her and the organization,” said Board Chair Shari Rose.
As Green Guerillas looks to the future, Iyeshima’s leadership brings both continuity and momentum to our work alongside community gardeners, partners, and supporters across the city.
Please join us in congratulating Iyeshima on this exciting milestone.
We are grateful to our community for your continued partnership and engagement as we work together to grow a more just, green, and connected New York City.
