The Youth Empowerment Pipeline is a 9-month youth-driven training program that creates a viable pathway to employment and leadership within the food justice movement through skill-building workshops, engagement with community gardeners and urban farmers and leaders in the food justice movement.

The YEP bridges the experience gap for young New Yorkers ages 17-21. Hands-on opportunities include:

  • * Youth developed campaigns, workshops and projects;
  • * Critical engagement with food justice leaders during professional development sessions;
  • * Network building and placement in programs/opportunities;
  • * Direct learning from and within community gardens and urban farms.

Iyeshima Harris, YEP Co-Director, Community Engagement and Kristina Erskine, YEP Co-Director, Community Support

The application and interview process is centered in low-income communities of color across New York City. Youth are paid hourly. Schedule: Weekly virtual meetings, beginning December 2020. Select onsite learning opportunities from April 2021 – August 2021.
