Community Gardeners Placement Application

Intergenerational Bonding through Community Garden Spaces:

We are seeking community gardeners to host 2 -3 youth interns from late April – June. Youth will be working 3 hours per week onsite. All interns are age 17 – 21 and are a part of our Youth Empowerment Pipeline program, a youth-driven training program that creates a viable pathway to employment and leadership within the food justice movement.

The purpose of this onsite experience is to have youth provide hands on support to community gardeners during the busiest time of the growing season. We also want to encourage intergenerational learning spaces for youth and community gardeners so that they can learn the history behind community gardening, the people power that maintain its presence and the value of such space. As a part of Green Guerillas mission, community gardens have been the epicenter of the organization’s work and thus, we strive to put forth our best efforts to ensure the future of green spaces. We hope with this intentional program community gardeners are able to gain intergenerational bonds with youth, dedicated youth-based support and appreciation for their years’ of work.
